About us

About us

When Seattle native Keith Tucker founded Hip Hop is Green in 2009 on his grandparents’ soil — and where his community built a new life away from the Jim Crow South — he sparked a national movement. Grounded in the powerful impact of hip hop culture, we are a nonprofit organization that started with a mission to support holistic wellness and transform urban communities environmentally. Our story began when Tucker toured the nation, serving over 20,000 free, plant-based meals to communities in need. Our free dinner initiative (hip hop is green dinners) earned hip hop is Green the distinction of becoming the first hip hop organization to provide BIPOC families plant-based meals nationwide.

Our Founder

Keith Tucker has been a unique visionary and social entrepreneur for over 30 years. He has worked with hundreds of businesses, youth groups and community organizations and many icons in the entertainment business as a creative promoter and an ambassador for the culture of hip hop.

In 2017, the Partnership for a Healthier America, a nonprofit that builds on Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative nominated hip hop is Green for their Catalyst for Change Awards. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued providing healthy meals to thousands of families in low-income communities — and have now expanded our climate change initiatives.

Leading hip hop artists, food justice advocates, architects, climate change experts, and more bring to life our holistic wellness programs for young people and make our futuristic farming projects — today’s reality. Join us.
